Veterinary Services & Facilities

At Hatchmoor Veterinary Practice, we combine caring, personal veterinary attention with modern equipment and in-house diagnostic facilities. This allows our veterinary team to investigate problems efficiently, provide appropriate treatment and, wherever possible, obtain test results quickly without having to send samples away.

From routine health checks and dental care to diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing and surgical procedures, we offer a wide range of veterinary services for your pet.

Veterinary Services at Hatchmoor

Consultations, Health Checks & Senior Clinics

Regular veterinary examinations are an important part of keeping your pet healthy. Our veterinary team can assess your pet's general health, discuss any concerns and advise you on appropriate preventative care.

We also offer senior pet clinics, providing additional support for older pets. Regular health checks can help identify changes in your pet's health and wellbeing and allow potential problems to be investigated at an early stage.

Ultrasound Scans & Echocardiograms

Our practice has ultrasound facilities for a range of diagnostic investigations.

We can perform:

  • General ultrasound examinations
  • Pregnancy scans
  • Echocardiograms

Ultrasound provides our veterinary team with a non-invasive way of examining internal organs and structures and can be particularly useful when further investigation is needed following a clinical examination.

Digital X-rays

We have digital X-ray facilities in-house, allowing our veterinary team to obtain diagnostic images as part of the investigation of a range of conditions and injuries.

We can also provide BVA hip and elbow X-rays where appropriate.

Digital radiography means images can be produced quickly and assessed by the veterinary team as part of your pet's care.

In-House Blood & Laboratory Testing

One of the benefits of our in-house laboratory equipment is the ability to obtain many test results quickly. This can help our vets make informed decisions about your pet's treatment without the delays associated with sending every sample to an external laboratory.

Our laboratory equipment allows us to perform a range of tests, including:

Biochemistry testing

Our VetScan 2 biochemistry analyser can be used for:

  • Pre-operative blood tests
  • Comprehensive biochemistry profiles
  • T4 testing
  • Phenobarbital testing
  • Electrolyte testing

Blood testing

Our Opticell analyser provides in-house haematology testing.

FeLV, FIV and cPL testing

Our VUE+ system can be used for tests including:

  • Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV)
  • Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV)
  • Canine pancreatic lipase (cPL)

Urine analysis

Our VetScan UA system provides basic urine analysis using dipstick testing, with specific gravity also calculated.

Digital Microscopy & Cytology

We have an Imagyst AI digital microscope alongside a conventional manual microscope, providing our veterinary team with additional diagnostic options.

The digital microscope can be used for:

  • Cytology, including ear swabs and fine needle aspirates (FNA)
  • Blood smears
  • Urine sediment

Where appropriate, samples can also be examined using our conventional microscope.

Dental Care

Good dental health is an important part of your pet's overall wellbeing. We provide a range of veterinary dental services, including:

  • Dental examinations
  • Dental descaling
  • Polishing
  • Tooth extractions

If your pet has bad breath, difficulty eating, visible tartar or other signs of dental disease, our veterinary team can assess their teeth and advise on appropriate treatment.

Surgical Procedures

We provide surgical care at the practice, with dedicated preparation and theatre facilities and modern anaesthetic monitoring equipment.

Our services include traditional/open spay procedures.

Your pet's safety is our priority during anaesthesia. Our anaesthetic facilities include multi-parameter monitoring, with one monitor integrated with the anaesthetic machine and a second portable monitor available when required. We also have fluid pumps and warming equipment to support patients during procedures.

Home Visits

For pets who may find travelling to the practice particularly stressful, or where a visit at home is more appropriate, we also offer home visits.

Please contact the practice to discuss whether a home visit is suitable for your pet and your particular circumstances.

Modern Veterinary Equipment

Behind our veterinary services is a range of equipment designed to support safe procedures and accurate diagnosis.

Our facilities include:

  • Anaesthetic equipment
  • Multi-parameter patient monitors
  • Fluid drip pumps
  • Digital X-ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Dental equipment
  • In-house laboratory analysers
  • Digital and conventional microscopy
  • Patient warming equipment
  • Dedicated preparation, X-ray and theatre areas

Having these facilities available within the practice means our veterinary team can carry out a wide range of examinations, diagnostic tests and procedures under one roof.

Faster Results with In-House Testing

When your pet needs diagnostic testing, waiting for results can be stressful. Our in-house laboratory facilities allow us to perform a wide range of blood, urine and other tests at the practice, helping us obtain results more quickly in many cases.

This can be particularly valuable when blood tests are needed before an anaesthetic or when our vets need diagnostic information to help guide the next stage of your pet's treatment.

From preventative health checks and senior clinics to dental care, surgery, diagnostic imaging and in-house testing, our facilities allow us to provide a broad range of veterinary services for your pet.
